Japan-Sri Lanka Economic Cooperation Policy Dialogue

On 4th July, during his visit to Sri Lanka, Mr. ISHIZUKI Hideo, Assistant Minister/ Director-General, International Cooperation Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, held Japan-Sri Lanka Economic Cooperation Policy Dialogue with Dr. Harshana SURIYAPPERUMA, Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.
- This Economic Cooperation Policy Dialogue was held for the first time since the inauguration of H.E. Anura Kumara Dissanayake, President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, and since the conclusion of the bilateral agreement on the debts restructuring between Japan and Sri Lanka in March this year.
- During the Dialogue, against the backdrop of the current international situation, both sides exchanged views on Sri Lanka's recent economic and financial situation, the overview of Japan’s Country Development Cooperation Policy for Sri Lanka, and Sri Lanka's priority development areas. They reaffirmed their close, continued cooperation for Sri Lanka's socio-economic development as well as for maintaining and promoting a Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP).
