The 10th Consular Forum between Japan and the Federative Republic of Brazil

On 25 June, the 10th Consular Forum between Japan and the Federative Republic of Brazil was held in Tokyo. Mr. IWAMOTO Keiichi, Assistant Minister / Director-General of the Consular Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, and Ambassador Márcia Loureiro, Secretary of Brazilian Communities, Consular and Legal Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federative Republic of Brazil, attended the consultation, both with the participation of other officials in charge.
- The holding of this Forum at the earliest was concurred by the leaders of Japan and Brazil when they held a Summit Meeting this March in Tokyo. At the Forum, the two sides addressed matters of mutual interests including issues related to their own nationals residing in each other country, and seizing the opportunity of the 130th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Brazil, they exchanged views in a constructive manner with the aim of further promoting people-to-people exchanges between the two countries. They concurred on working together to address consular issues between the two countries.
- The next Forum will be held in Brazil. The timing will be scheduled later on through diplomatic channels.
