Foreign Minister IWAYA's Visit to Okinawa Prefecture

On June 23, Mr. IWAYA Takeshi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, visited Okinawa Prefecture. The overview is as follows.
- Minister Iwaya attended the Memorial Ceremony to Commemorate the Fallen on the 80th Anniversary of the End of the Battle of Okinawa held at the Peace Memorial Park in Mabuni, Itoman City, Okinawa Prefecture, and offered his deepest condolences to the souls of those who perished on the battlefield and those who lost their lives in the ravages of war.
- On this occasion, Minister Iwaya briefly spoke with Lieutenant General Roger Turner, Commanding General of the III Marine Expeditionary Force and Okinawa Area Coordinator, U.S. Marine Corps, and stated that he would like to maintain close coordination with the U.S. toward strengthening the alliance and mitigating the impact on Okinawa.
