Entry into force of the Japan-Ukraine Agreement on the Security of Information

  1. Regarding the Agreement between the Government of Japan and the Government of Ukraine on the Security of Information, signed by Mr. NAKAGOME Masashi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ukraine and H.E. Mr. Serhii Andrushchenko, First Deputy Head of the Security Service of Ukraine, on 16 November 2024, the Government of Japan received the notification from the Embassy of Ukraine in Japan confirming the completion of the internal procedures necessary for the entry into force of this Agreement on 22 May 2025. This Agreement accordingly entered into force on 21 June 2025 in accordance with the Article 22 of the Agreement.
  2. This Agreement stipulates measures in order for both receiving Parties to protect, in accordance with its national laws and regulations, classified information which is exchanged between the governments of Japan and Ukraine and requires protection in the interests of national security.
  3. The government of Japan expects that this Agreement will ensure appropriate protection of classified information shared between the two governments and will promote further beneficial information exchanges.
