Working-level Online Meeting for the Conference on Cooperation among East Asian Countries for Palestinian Development(Outcome: the 4th Ministerial Meeting set to be held)

On June 5, 2025, Japan co-hosted with Palestine and Malaysia a working-level online meeting of the Conference on Cooperation among East Asian Countries for Palestinian Development(CEAPAD).
- The meeting was co-chaired by Mr. ANDO Toshihide, Director-General of the Middle Eastern and African Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Dr. Samah Hamad, Acting Minister of Planning and International Cooperation of Palestine, and Mr. Devrin Jeck, Undersecretary of the International Cooperation and Development Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia This round of meeting was held with participation of Japan, Palestine, Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, the Republic of Korea, Lao PDR, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Viet Nam, World Bank, UNRWA, and the Islamic Development Bank. The objective of the meeting is to discuss assistance to the Palestinians from Asian countries.
- At the meeting, the Palestinian side updated the participants on the current situation in Gaza and the Westbank and the future assistance needs, and then the Japanese side and the Malaysian side explained preparations for the 4th Ministerial Meeting of the Conference on Cooperation among East Asian Countries for Palestinian Development(CEAPAD IV).
- The participants supported the initiative of Japan, Palestine, and Malaysia to co-host the 4th Ministerial Meeting of the Conference on Cooperation among East Asian Countries for Palestinian Development(CEAPAD IV) on July 11, 2025, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and they concurred in working closely towards the success of the upcoming ministerial meeting.

CEAPAD is a regional conference framework initiated by Japan in 2013 to support the Palestinian state-building efforts by drawing on resources, knowledge, and experiences of economic development of the East Asian countries.
