The Sixth Japan-China Foreign Press Secretary Consultations

On May 30, Press Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of Japan, Mr. KITAMURA Toshihiro, held the 6th Japan-China Foreign Press Secretary Consultations with Ms. MAO Ning, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, in Beijing.

  1. Based on the concurrence on the early resumption at the Japan-China Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in last December, both sides exchanged views on how the external communication by governments should be and the efforts for public relations by governments with a view to promote mutual understanding between the people of both countries.
  2. Both sides concurred on the importance of promoting mutual understanding between the people of both countries for building a “constructive and stable Japan-China relationship”.
  3. Both sides concurred on holding the next Japan-China Foreign Press Secretary Consultations in Tokyo at a convenient date for both sides and continuing the discussion with a view to promote mutual understanding between the people of both countries.
  4. Taking this opportunity, Mr. KITAMURA paid a brief courtesy call on Mr. HONG Lei, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China.
