The Sixth Japan-China Foreign Press Secretary Consultations

On May 30, Press Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of Japan, Mr. KITAMURA Toshihiro, held the 6th Japan-China Foreign Press Secretary Consultations with Ms. MAO Ning, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, in Beijing.
- Based on the concurrence on the early resumption at the Japan-China Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in last December, both sides exchanged views on how the external communication by governments should be and the efforts for public relations by governments with a view to promote mutual understanding between the people of both countries.
- Both sides concurred on the importance of promoting mutual understanding between the people of both countries for building a “constructive and stable Japan-China relationship”.
- Both sides concurred on holding the next Japan-China Foreign Press Secretary Consultations in Tokyo at a convenient date for both sides and continuing the discussion with a view to promote mutual understanding between the people of both countries.
- Taking this opportunity, Mr. KITAMURA paid a brief courtesy call on Mr. HONG Lei, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China.
