On May 27, commencing at 3:10 p.m., for approximately 20 minutes, Mr. IWAYA Takeshi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call by Dr. Khaled El-Anany, Former Minister of Tourism and Antiquities of the Arab Republic of Egypt. The overview of the courtesy call is as follows.

  1. At the outset, Minister Iwaya welcomed Dr. El-Anany on his third visit to Japan, and expressed gratitude for his support for the development of Japan-Egypt relation.
  2. Dr. El-Anany touched upon the bilateral cooperation in the fields of culture and tourism, including the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM). The two sides exchanged views in a productive way, as he expressed his efforts toward the election of the Director-General of the UN Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
