On May 26, 2025, commencing at 10:25 a.m., for approximately 30 minutes, Mr. IWAYA Takeshi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call from the delegation of the U.S. House Committee on Natural Resources. The overview of the courtesy call is as follows.

  1. At the outset, Minister Iwaya welcomed the delegation of the U.S. House Committee on Natural Resources on their visit to Japan, and expressed gratitude for their strong support for the Japan-U.S. Alliance in the U.S. Congress, as the importance of the Japan-U.S. Alliance grows stronger than ever.
  2. Minister Iwaya explained Japan's position on the US tariff measures.
  3. In addition, the two sides exchanged views on how Japan and the United States can cooperate on energy security and critical minerals.
