Visit to Japan by Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO)

  1. From May 12 to 14, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), will make an official working visit to Japan.
  2. During her stay in Japan, Director-General Okonjo-Iweala is scheduled to meet with senior officials of Japan, including Mr. IWAYA Takeshi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan.
  3. A rules-based free and open multilateral trading system is the foundation on which Japan stands, with the WTO as its cornerstone. Through this visit to Japan, it is expected to further strengthen cooperation with the WTO in order to maintain and strengthen the multilateral trading system, including the promotion of the WTO reform.
