On May 9, commencing at 18:00 p.m. for approximately 45 minutes, Mr. IWAYA Takeshi, Minister for Foreign Affairs, held a meeting with H.E. Mr. Ayman Al Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan during his visit to Japan. The overview is as follows.

  1. At the outset, Minister Iwaya stated that Jordan plays an important role in the evolving international situation. He also expressed Japan’s willingness to work together closely with Jordan towards a two-state solution and the establishment of long-term regional peace and stability.
  2. In response, Minister Safadi explained the latest situation on the ground and Jordan’s diplomatic efforts and also stated that it is imperative to cooperate with Japan, as a close and important partner. He then expressed his appreciation to Japan for its support.
  3. They reaffirmed the importance of mutual longstanding strategic partnership between the two countries, and committed to closely collaborating in various fields.
