Delivery of emergency relief kits to schools affected by the earthquake in Myanmar
(Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects)

In response to the damage caused by the earthquake that struck central Myanmar, emergency relief kits, including water tanks and emergency evacuation tents, decided to be provided under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects on April 11 were handed over on April 30 and May 1 from the Embassy of Japan in Myanmar to monastic schools in Mandalay Region affected by the earthquake.

  1. It is hoped that this assistance will enable the children, students, and teachers of the monastic schools, who are forced to live in difficult evacuation conditions, to lead safe and hygienic lives, as well as to provide safe drinking water to local residents and evacuees.
  2. Taking into consideration the humanitarian needs on the ground, the Government of Japan continues to provide as much humanitarian assistance as possible in the manner that directly benefits the people of Myanmar who are in need.
