March 7, 2025

On March 7, in Honiara, the capital of Solomon Islands H.E. Mr. HIGUCHI Keiichi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Solomon Islands, and the Honourable Peter Shanel AGOVAKA, Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade of Solomon Islands, signed and exchanged notes for "the Project for the Improvement of Kilu’ufi Hospital" (project up to two billion three hundred and sixty-seven million Japanese Yen).
- This project aims to enhance the quality of medical services at the Kilu’ufi Hospital in Auki, the capital of Malaita Province, by constructing a new central clinical ward and delivery ward, as well as providing medical equipment. It is expected to contribute to the improvement of health care services in Malaita Province.
- This project was signed in June 2023, for the provision of a grant up to 2.011 billion yen, however due to a shortage of funds caused by recent price hikes and rapid exchange rate fluctuations, the grant has now been revised to 2.367 billion yen with an additional grant of 356 million yen.
