Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs Lammy’s Visit to Japan and the holding of the Japan-UK Economic 2+2 Ministers’ Meeting (“Economic 2+2”)

- The Rt Hon David LAMMY, Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, will visit Japan from March 6th to 7th. Mr. IWAYA Takeshi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan will hold a Foreign Ministers Meeting with Secretary Lammy on 7th March.
- Additionally, as the Rt Hon Jonathan REYNOLDS, Secretary of State for Business and Trade and President of the Board of Trade of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, will also visit Japan at the same time, the Japan-UK Economic 2+2 Ministers’ Meeting (“Economic 2+2”) will be held on 7th March.
- At the Economic 2+2, the four Ministers will exchange views on key issues facing both countries in areas where diplomacy, security and the economy overlap, and will specifically discuss economic security, energy security, promotion of free and open international trade and third-country cooperation, including the Global South.

The launch of the Japan-UK Economic 2+2 Ministers’ Meeting (“Economic 2+2”) was concurred by both leaders during the Japan-UK Summit Meeting on November 18, last year. This is the first time this meeting is being held.
