Courtesy call on Foreign Minister Iwaya by the Japanese American Leadership Delegation

On March 5, commencing at 5:30 p.m. for approximately 25 minutes, Mr. IWAYA Takeshi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call from the group of the Japanese American Leadership Delegation (JALD) and US-Japan Council including Ms. Audrey Yamamoto, President & CEO. The delegation of 10 Japanese American leaders who play leading roles in various parts of the U.S. was invited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The overview is as follows.

  1. Minister Iwaya expressed his pleasure at welcoming the leaders who are active in various fields across the U.S., and welcomed their visit to Japan.
  2. Minister Iwaya stated that Japanese Americans are a treasure for Japan-U.S. relations, and expressed his respect for their contribution to further strengthen the ties between the two countries, serving as a bridge. He also stated that the Government of Japan intends to support the development of active Japanese American communities to further strengthen the bilateral relationship of trust.
  3. The delegation expressed their deep appreciation for the invitation to Japan, stating their intention to work in their various capacities to further enhance Japan-U.S. relations. The delegation members also shared their impressions of their visit to Hiroshima Prefecture during their visit to Japan.
