Reception to Celebrate His Majesty the Emperor’s Birthday Hosted by Foreign Minister Iwaya and Mrs. Iwaya

On February 17, a reception to celebrate His Majesty the Emperor’s birthday, hosted by Mr. IWAYA Takeshi, Minister for Foreign Affairs, and his spouse, was held at the Iikura Guest House of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The reception was attended by approximately 230 representatives such as Ambassadors to Japan, their spouses, members of the Diet, foreign economic and cultural organizations in Japan, and major economic organizations, among others.

In his opening remarks, Minister Iwaya offered his congratulations on His Majesty the Emperor’s 65th birthday and expressed his respect for the active involvement of Their Majesties the Emperor and the Empress to foster international goodwill. Minister Iwaya also expressed his determination, as Minister for Foreign Affairs, to firmly promote a diplomacy of dialogue and cooperation.
  2. At the reception, cuisine made using ingredients from disaster-stricken areas such as Tohoku region and the Noto Peninsula, as well as Japanese alcoholic beverages, such as sake and shochu, were served.
