Congratulatory Message from Minister IWAYA to HRH Crown Prince Tupoutoʻa ʻUlukalala, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for His Majesty’s Armed Forces of the Kingdom of Tonga
On January 28, 2025, Mr. IWAYA Takeshi, Foreign Minister of Japan, sent a congratulatory letter to His Royal Highness Crown Prince Tupoutoʻa ʻUlukalala on his appointment as Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for His Majesty’s Armed Forces of the Kingdom of Tonga.
In his letter, Minister Iwaya congratulated HRH Crown Prince Tupoutoʻa ʻUlukalala on his appointment and expressed that Japan and Tonga are precious friends connected by the Pacific Ocean, mentioning that the two countries have built a deep cooperative relationship over many years based on exchanges between the Imperial Family and the Royal Family. Minister Iwaya also expressed his wish to work closely with HRH Crown Prince Tupoutoʻa ʻUlukalala, who has been involved in promoting friendly relations with Japan, to deepen the cooperative relationship between the two countries. In addition, Minister Iwaya conveyed his intention to promote relations between Japan and the Pacific Island countries, as Tonga is serving as the Chair of the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF).
