Courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan by Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs MATSUMOTO

On January 14, commencing at 10:05 a.m. (4:05 p.m. JST) for approximately 35 minutes, Mr. MATSUMOTO Hisashi, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, made a courtesy call on H. E. Mr. Ayman SAFADI, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The overview is as follows:
- At the outset, Parliamentary Vice-Minister Matsumoto stated that Japan is paying close attention to the situation in the Middle East with great interest and concern, and expressed Japan’s willingness to work together closely with Jordan on the issues such as assistance to Palestine and Syria. Regarding the situation in Syria, he stated that the international community needs to support a peaceful and stable transition process and that Japan also will play a role. He then stated that Japan appreciated the Jordan’s role for the evacuation of Japanese nationals.
- In response, Minister Safadi stated that the situation is extremely tense and it is important to cooperate with Japan, a close and important partner. Minister Safadi then explained the latest situation on the ground as well as Jordan’s diplomatic efforts. He also stated that Jordan spares no effort in cooperation to evacuate Japanese nationals.
- They affirmed the importance of trust between the two countries and confirmed that the two countries will continue working together, including defense cooperation.
