Foreign Minister Iwaya held informal talks with Ambassador Emanuel

On January 8, Mr. IWAYA Takeshi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan visited the Embassy of the United States in Tokyo and signed a Condolence Book on the occasion of the passing of Jimmy Carter, the 39th U.S. President of the United States on December 29th 2024 (local time), and he held informal talks with The Honorable Rahm Emanuel, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Japan.

Former President Carter was born on October 1, 1924. After serving as a Georgia State Senator and Governor of Georgia, he served as the 39th President of the United States from 1977 to 1981. In 2002, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. He passed away on December 29, 2024 (local time) at the age of 100.
