On December 26, Mr. MATSUMOTO Hisashi, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, received a courtesy call by H.E. Mr. Mait MARTINSON, Ambassador of the Republic of Estonia to Japan. The overview is as follows.

  1. At the outset, Parliamentary Vice-Minister Matsumoto stated that Estonia is an important partner that shares values and principles, and that Japan would like to continue to strengthen relations in a wide range of fields, including IT, digital, cyber and security.
  2. In response, Ambassador Martinson mentioned the progress of defense exchanges between Japan and Estonia and his perception of the security environment, and stated that he would like to further strengthen bilateral relations including security.
  3. The two sides also exchanged views on regional affairs including Ukraine and East Asia, and concurred to deepen cooperation between Japan and Estonia in a wide range of fields, including digital, cyber and defense.
