Signing and Exchange of Notes Concerning Grant Aid Projects to the Kingdom of Cambodia

On 10 December, 2024, in Phnom Penh, the capital of the Kingdom of Cambodia, H.E. Mr. UENO Atsushi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Kingdom of Cambodia, and H.E. Mr. Prak Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia, signed and exchanged notes concerning a grant aid project of up to JPY 1,001 million to provide patrol boats.
- Cambodia has approximately 443 km of coastline along the Gulf of Thailand. Amid challenges to maritime threats, the country conducts maritime search and rescue operations with limited equipment, including aging vessels.
- This project is expected to contribute to the safe development of Cambodia's economy and society by providing Patrol Boats to the Cambodian government and improving the country's maritime law enforcement capabilities.
- The government of Japan announced “three new cooperation approaches” for Cambodia's sustainable development and co-creation of social values. This cooperation embodies one of three approaches, namely strengthening maritime connectivity, and will contribute to the security of maritime routes.
