Courtesy call on Parliamentary Vice-Minister Matsumoto by Mr. Leroy, the President of the Regional Council of Grand Est in France

On December 4, for approximately 15 minutes starting at 2:00 p.m., Mr. MATSUMOTO Hisashi, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs received a courtesy call by Mr. Frank LEROY, President of the Regional Council of Grand Est in France. The overview is as follows.
- Mr. Matsumoto, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, welcomed Mr. Leroy, President of the Regional Council of Grand Est, on his first visit to Japan, and stated that the Government of Japan has been promoting exchanges between Japanese and French local governments, as described in the roadmap for Japan-France cooperation issued by the two leaders in December last year. In response, Mr. LeRoy expressed his appreciation for the reception by Parliamentary Vice Minister Mr. Matsumoto and stated that Japan and the region of Grand Est have strong ties, especially in the economic and cultural spheres, and that he would like to work to strengthen relations between Japan and the region of Grand Est.
- The two sides then exchanged views on the concrete efforts to strengthen relations between Japan and the region of Grand Est, referring to the 8th Japan-France Local Government Exchange Conference held in Shizuoka City in November, the Osaka-Kansai Expo in the coming year, as well as possibilities for cooperation in the energy sector, including hydrogen.
