Meeting between State Minister for Foreign Affairs Fujii and Foreign Minister Nafti, Tunisia

State Minister Fujii shaking hands with Foreign Minister Nafti

On December 3, commencing at 0:00am (local time: 17:00 minutes on December 2), Mr. FUJII Hisayuki, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, held a meeting in Cairo, Egypt, with H.E. Mr. Mohamed Ali Nafti, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad of the Republic of Tunisia. The overview of the meeting is as follows.

  1. At the outset, State Minister Fujii stated that Japan places importance on its partnership with Tunisia, a gateway to the Middle East, Africa and Europe, which plays an important role in the stability of the region, including North Africa.
  2. Two sides concurred on the launch of the negotiations on the bilateral investment treaty in order to further strengthen economic relationship, and confirmed that they would develop bilateral relations in a wide range of areas, including political and economic areas.
  3. Two sides confirmed that they would also work together towards TICAD 9 next year.
