Ceasefire Agreement on the Situation in Israel and Lebanon (Statement by Foreign Minister IWAYA Takeshi)

- Japan welcomes the ceasefire agreement between the governments of Israel and Lebanon on November 27(local time on November 26) mediated by the United States and France. Japan strongly supports the efforts by the United States and France toward a diplomatic settlement.
- Japan has called for an immediate ceasefire and urged all parties concerned to fully implement the relevant resolutions, including UN Security Council Resolution 1701, to abide by international law, including international humanitarian law, as well as to exercise maximum restraint and seek for a diplomatic settlement.
- In light of this agreement, Japan strongly demands that all parties take all measures to fully implement the ceasefire agreement and commit to the regional stability.
