The 5th Japan-Qatar Foreign Policy Dialogue

The fifth Japan-Qatar Foreign Policy Dialogue was held in Tokyo on November 7. From the Japanese side, Mr. Toshihide Ando, Director-General of the Middle East and African Affairs Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and from the Qatari side, H. E. Dr. Ahmed bin Hassan Malallah Al-Hammadi, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and H. E. Mr. Jaber Jarallah Al-Marri, Ambassador to Japan, attended the meeting among other officials.

  1. At this meeting, the two sides exchanged views on ways to further strengthen cooperation in a wide range of fields, including political, economic and defense exchanges, under the “Strategic Partnership” confirmed between the two countries' leaders last year.
  2. The two sides also exchanged views on the importance of a free and open Indo-Pacific, the situation in the Middle East, including the situation in Gaza and Afghanistan, and the situation in East Asia, and confirmed that they would further deepen cooperation toward the stabilization of the region and international society.
