Consultation between Vice Minister Okano and Austria’s Secretary-General Marschik

On November 5, commencing at 4:45 p.m. for approximately 60 minutes, Mr. OKANO Masataka, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a consultation with Dr. Nikolaus Marschik, Secretary-General of the Ministry for European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria, in Tokyo. The overview is as follows.

  1. Vice Minister Okano and Secretary General Marschik welcomed the strengthening of Japanese-Austrian relations, for instance through the successful holding of the 26th meeting of the “Japan-Austria Committee for Issues of the Future” and reaffirmed cooperation through the Expo 2025 Osaka-Kansai to be held next year.
  2. In addition to bilateral relations, the two sides exchanged views on a wide range of issues including regional affairs such as in Indo-Pacific and Ukraine, cooperation on global issues including nuclear disarmament. The two sides confirmed that Japan and Austria would further strengthen their partnership through bilateral and international cooperation.
