Consultation between Vice Minister Okano and Austria’s Secretary-General Marschik

On November 5, commencing at 4:45 p.m. for approximately 60 minutes, Mr. OKANO Masataka, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a consultation with Dr. Nikolaus Marschik, Secretary-General of the Ministry for European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria, in Tokyo. The overview is as follows.
- Vice Minister Okano and Secretary General Marschik welcomed the strengthening of Japanese-Austrian relations, for instance through the successful holding of the 26th meeting of the “Japan-Austria Committee for Issues of the Future” and reaffirmed cooperation through the Expo 2025 Osaka-Kansai to be held next year.
- In addition to bilateral relations, the two sides exchanged views on a wide range of issues including regional affairs such as in Indo-Pacific and Ukraine, cooperation on global issues including nuclear disarmament. The two sides confirmed that Japan and Austria would further strengthen their partnership through bilateral and international cooperation.
