Japan-Uzbekistan Foreign Ministers’ Telephone Meeting

On November 1, commencing at 4:40 p.m. for approximately 30 minutes, Mr. IWAYA Takeshi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a telephone meeting with H.E. Mr. Bakhtiyor SAIDOV, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The overview is as follows.

  1. At the outset, Minister Iwaya mentioned that Uzbekistan is a strategic partner for Japan in maintaining and strengthening a free and open international order based on the rule of law and expressed his willingness to closely work with Minister Saidov to further deepen the relations between the two countries.
  2. Minister Iwaya also stated that he expected the Joint meeting of the Japan-Uzbekistan Economic Committees held on October 31 would be an opportunity to deepen bilateral relations, and pointed out that this year's provision of financial loans totaling 76 billion Japanese yen to Uzbekistan would support sustainable growth in the country. In response, Minister Saidov expressed that he would like to strengthen cooperation in all areas, including politics, trade, investment and economic relations.
