On October 17, Mr. TSUJI Kiyoto, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call by H.E. Mr. Elchin AMIRBAYOV, Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Special Assignments. The overview of the curtesy call is as follows:

  1. State Minister Tsuji said that Azerbaijan is an important partner for Japan, and expressed his appreciation for the deepening of friendly relations between the two countries, particularly in economic field, including in areas such as energy.
  2. They also exchanged views on the situation in the region, and Representative on Special Assignments Amirbayov gave an explanation of the situation in the Caucasus and Azerbaijan's position. State Minister Tsuji appreciated efforts towards peace, including the ongoing peace agreement negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia and stressed the importance of peace and stability in the region.
  3. They also discussed cooperation in the international arena and agreed to work together to further promote the bilateral relations.
