Emergency Assistance to the Plurinational State of Bolivia in Response to the Forest Fires
On September 27, upon the request of the Government of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, the Government of Japan has decided to provide emergency relief goods (Personal protective equipment for firefighting, Firefighting equipment and materials and etc.) through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to the Plurinational State of Bolivia in response to the damages caused by the forest fires.
In light of the humanitarian perspective and the close relations between Japan and Bolivia, Japan has decided to provide emergency assistance to the Plurinational State of Bolivia to support the people affected by the forest fires.
In the Province of Santa Cruz in the eastern part of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, forest fires that began in June of this year spread in August, resulting in a large number of affected people and physical damages, including casualties. According to the Government of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, two people were killed, approximately 3,100 households were affected, and approximately 3.8 million hectares were destroyed (as of September 15).
