The 8th Japan-UK Cyber Dialogue

On Friday, September 13, the 8th Japan-UK Cyber Dialogue was held in London, United Kingdom.

  1. This dialogue was co-chaired by Mr. KUMAGAI Naoki, Ambassador in charge of Cyber Policy and Deputy Director-General of the Foreign Policy Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of Japan, and Mr. William Middleton, Cyber Director, National Security Directorate, the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), with the participation of officials from, on the Japanese side, MOFA, National center of Incident readiness and Strategy for Cybersecurity (NISC), National Police Agency (NPA), Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Ministry of Defense (MOD) and Japan Computer Emergency Response Team Coordination Center (JPCERT/CC), and on the UK side, FCDO, Cabinet Office (CO), Department for Business and Trade (DBT), Department for Science, Information and Technology (DSIT), Home Office (HO) and National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC).
  2. At this dialogue, the two sides exchanged views on a wide range of issues, such as on each country’s cybersecurity strategy and policy, cooperation in the international fora including the UN, and capacity building for cybersecurity.
  3. Both sides confirmed that the two countries will continue to hold the Japan-UK Cyber Dialogue.
