Japan-Ukraine Foreign Ministers’ Telephone Talk

On September 10, commencing at 2:00 p.m., Ms. KAMIKAWA Yoko, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan held a telephone conversation with H.E. Mr. Andrii SYBIHA, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, for approximately 30 minutes. The overview is as follows.

  1. At the outset, Minister Kamikawa expressed her appreciation to the proposal on the call from Foreign Minister Sybiha soon after his inauguration as the Minister, and expressed her congratulations to Minister Sybiha on his new post. Minister Kamikawa also asked Minister Sybiha to send her best regards to Mr. Kuleba, former Minister for Foreign Affairs, and stated that her heart hurt to hear that Ukraine was still under heavy attack, and that Japan would continue to impose severe sanctions on Russia and provide strong support to Ukraine.
  2. Minister Kamikawa also stated that Japan would continue to provide strong support to Ukraine based on the urgent needs of Ukraine, and that Japan would also be actively involved in the future diplomatic efforts toward achieving a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.
  3. Minister Sybiha again expressed his deep appreciation for Japan's support to Ukraine and explained the current situation in Ukraine and explained the current situation in Ukraine.
  4. The two ministers concurred that they would continue to work closely together.
