Meeting between Foreign Minister Kamikawa and Hon. Mr. Limpho Justice Tau, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office of the Kingdom of Lesotho

On August 25, commencing at 4:32 p.m. for approximately 15 minutes, Ms. KAMIKAWA Yoko, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a meeting with Hon. Mr. Limpho Justice TAU, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office of the Kingdom of Lesotho, who is visiting Japan to attend Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) Ministerial Meeting. The overview of the meeting is as follows.
- At the outset, Minister Kamikawa stated that both countries share fundamental values and principles such as the rule of law and expressed her intention to work with Minister Tau to further strengthen bilateral relations. Minister Kamikawa also conveyed Japan’s decision to provide food assistance to Lesotho, which has been experiencing serious food insecurity due to drought damage, and expressed her expectations for contributing to food security in Lesotho through this assistance. In response, Minister Tau expressed his appreciation for Japan's extensive support for Lesotho and his expectations for cooperation in blue economy.
- The two ministers confirmed that they would strengthen bilateral relations through cooperation in such areas as promotion of renewable energy and human resource development for youth.
- The two ministers confirmed that they would further develop Japan-Lesotho relations towards TICAD 9 in the coming year.
