Submission of the Recommendations of the Advisory Panel on New Financing for Development to Foreign Minister Kamikawa

On July 12, Ms. KAMIKAWA Yoko, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call from Ms. OHNO Izumi (Professor Emeritus, National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies) , Chair of the Advisory Panel on New Financing for Development, and others and received recommendations from the Chair. The overview is as follows.
- At the outset, Chair Ohno presented Minister Kamikawa with recommendations developed by the Advisory Panel on New Financing for Development, entitled, “Contributing to a Sustainable Future and Creating a Virtuous Cycle of Growth ,” and explained the panel’s expectations for the introduction of new initiatives to coordinate official development assistance (ODA) and sustainable finance.
- Minister Kamikawa expressed her gratitude for the panel’s extensive discussions and recommendations on new ways of financing that are aligned with the times, and stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will work with other relevant ministries and agencies in carrying out reviews aimed at fundamentally reforming ODA, including possible amendments to the Japan International Cooperatino Agency (JICA) Act .
