Congratulatory Message from Foreign Minister KAMIKAWA to David Lammy, Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs

On July 8th, Ms. KAMIKAWA Yoko, Minister for Foreign Affairs, sent a congratulatory letter to the Rt Hon David Lammy MP, Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, on his appointment.
- In the letter, Minister Kamikawa congratulated Secretary Lammy on his appointment, and stated that the partnership between Japan and the UK, which share values and principles, is closer and stronger than ever. Minister Kamikawa also stated that she would like to strengthen cooperation to realize a “free and open Indo-Pacific” and to maintain and strengthen the free and open international order based on the rule of law, against the backdrop of increasingly severe strategic environment surrounding Japan and the UK and the deepening recognition that the security of Europe and the Indo-Pacific are inseparable.
- Moreover, Minister Kamikawa conveyed her intention to advance concrete bilateral cooperation which is directly linked to the stability and prosperity of the international community, as well as her intention to work together to promote exchanges and cooperation between Japan and the UK in a wide range of fields, including business, science and technology, culture and the arts, and academia.
