On July 10th, for about 15 minutes from 14:55, Foreign Minister KAMIKAWA Yoko received a courtesy call from Japan Climate Leaders’ Partnership (JCLP).
The overview is as follows.

  1. Ms. Miyake, Co-Chair and other members of JCLP introduced their efforts to realize a decarbonized society and submitted a proposal regarding the Strategic Energy Plan and the Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Target.
  2. Minister Kamikawa stated that climate change is a ‘climate crisis’ that is an issue common to all humankind that needs immediate actions. Minister Kamikawa also noted that addressing climate change is not a constraint on economic growth, but an opportunity to bring about changes in industrial structures and economic society. Minister Kamikawa reiterated her hope that JCLP would continue to play a leading role in promoting climate change countermeasures.

JCLP is a coalition of Japanese companies from a wide range of industries, aiming to realize a carbon-free society based on the recognition that industries must have a decent sense of urgency and take proactive action against climate change.
