Meeting between State Minister for Foreign Affairs Tsuji and Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Industry and Trade of the Faroe Islands Mr. Høgni Hoydal

On July 1, commencing at 10:30 a.m., for approximately 45 minutes, Mr. TSUJI Kiyoto, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a meeting with Mr. Høgni Hoydal, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Industry and Trade of the Faroe Islands. The overview of the meeting is as follows:
- At the outset, State Minister Tsuji welcomed Minister Hoydal's first visit to Japan and the steady development of Japan-Faroese relations based on the Memorandum of Cooperation signed in 2022.
- In response, Minister Hoydal stated that Faroe Islands attaches great importance to the relationship with Japan and would like to further strengthen Japan-Faroese cooperation in a wide range of areas based on the Memorandum of Cooperation.
- State Minister Tsuji and Minister Hoydal exchanged views not only on economic relations between Japan and the Faroe Islands, but also on a wide range of issues such as people-to-people exchange including sports exchange and tourism, sustainable use of marine living resources and the Arctic. Both sides concurred on continuing close communication for the further cooperation.
- State Minister Tsuji and Minister Hoydal also exchanged views on the Russian invasion of Ukraine and other issues.
