On June 17, Mr. FUKAZAWA Yoichi, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs held a working lunch with Mr. Andreas Motzfeldt KRAVIK, State Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Norway, who is visiting Japan. The overview of the meeting is as follows.

  1. At the outset, Parliamentary Vice-Minister Fukazawa, welcomed State Secretary Kravik's visit to Japan and expressed his intention to steadily implement concrete cooperation following the elevation of the Japan-Norway relations to the strategic partnership last December. Parliamentary Vice-Minister Fukazawa also stated that he would like to further develop bilateral relations based on the "Japan Nordic Diplomacy Initiative" announced in January of this year.
  2. In response, State Secretary Kravik stated that he would like to continue to work closely with Japan in areas such as security, Arctic and Ocean, and efforts to achieve green transition.
  3. The both sides also exchanged views on the utilization of maritime resources as maritime nations, cooperation through NATO, and regional affairs including the situation in the Middle East and Russia's aggression against Ukraine, and the situation in East Asia, and confirmed that they would work closely together on various issues in the international arena.
