Japan-Italy Foreign Ministers’ Telephone Talk

On June 3, commencing at 4:15 p.m. for approximately 20 minutes, Ms. KAMIKAWA Yoko, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a telephone call with H.E. Mr. Antonio TAJANI, Vice-President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Italian Republic. The overview is as follows.

  1. At the outset, Foreign Minister Tajani expressed his sympathy for the earthquake that struck the Noto region of Ishikawa Prefecture this morning, and Minister Kamikawa expressed her gratitude for Minister Tajani’s warm message of sympathy. Minister Kamikawa paid tribute to Minister Tajani’s leadership at the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in April, and the two Ministers reaffirmed their commitment to cooperate for the success of Italy’s G7 Presidency and to accelerate bilateral cooperations in various fields, including security.
  2. Minister Kamikawa explained the outcomes achieved during her visit to African countries in May prior to the TICAD Ministerial Meeting in August, and the two Ministers exchanged views on regional situations in Africa, the Middle East and the Indo-Pacific. The two Ministers concurred to continue to coordinate on various issues of the international community, both bilaterally and among the G7.
