Courtesy Call on Foreign Minister Kamikawa by Former Deputy Secretary Armitage

On May 22nd, commencing at 11:15 a.m. for approximately 15 minutes, Ms. KAMIKAWA Yoko, Minister for Foreign Affairs, received a courtesy call by Ambassador Richard Armitage, Former Deputy Secretary of State of the United States of America. The overview is as follows.
- At the outset, Minister Kamikawa welcomed Former Ambassador Armitage on his visit to Japan, and stated that she was pleased to exchange views with Ambassador Armitage, who is a longstanding supporter of the Japan-U.S. Alliance, following their last meeting in April.
- Minister Kamikawa stated that the Japan-U.S. Alliance was elevated to an even higher level throughout Prime Minister Kishida’s official visit to the U.S in April, and that Japan and the U.S. has become global partners to uphold and bolster the free and open international order based on the rule of law. Both sides exchanged their views on further strengthening of the Japan-U.S. Alliance.
- Both sides also share their views on regional issues surrounding Japan, and reaffirmed the importance of the Japan-U.S. Alliance.
