On May 15, the third meeting of the Advisory Panel on New Financing for Development was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs under Ms. KAMIKAWA Yoko, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan.

  1. At the outset of the meeting, Minister Kamikawa expressed her intention to fundamentally reform Japan’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) in order to solve social issues in the Global South, which faces the same challenges as Japan, using ODA as a catalyst for the involvement of diverse actors, and to create a virtuous circle in which the social value created through this process is returned to Japan. Minister Kamikawa also asked the Advisory Panel to engage in candid discussions, as it had done at its first and second meetings.
  2. Following this, the Advisory Panel members gave explanations on “Aiming for win-win partnerships between ODA and sustainable/impact finance,” “Implementing finance that contributes to a sustainable society,” and “The initiatives of Concordia Financial Group”. Afterwards, they held detailed discussions on the content of the Advisory Panel’s recommendations.
  3. Going forward, the Advisory Panel plans to adjust the content of its recommendations based on the discussions at this meeting and to present them to Minister Kamikawa.
