Participation of State Minister for Foreign Affairs TSUJI Kiyoto in Japan-U.S. Joint Event on Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Mr. TSUJI Kiyoto, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, participated in a Japan-U.S. joint event on Artificial Intelligence (AI) hosted by Keio University.

  1. At the outset, Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield, in her remarks, highly appreciated the Japan-U.S. cooperation on the recent adoption of the UN General Assembly resolution on safe, secure and trustworthy AI and stated that the U.S. hopes to continue to collaborate with Japan in various fields including emerging technology.
  2. State Minister Tsuji, in his remarks, emphasized the importance of the Hiroshima Process in the discussion on the international governance of AI and stated Japan’s intention to continue working closely with the U.S. to achieve safe, secure and trustworthy AI.
  3. State Minister Tsuji and Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield also had conversation with Mr. ITO Kohei, President of Keio University, and discussion with students who attended the event.
