Emergency Assistance to the Independent State of Papua New Guinea in Response to the Damage caused by the Flood and Landslide
Today, April 12, upon the request of the Government of the Independent State of Papua New Guinea, the Government of Japan has decided to provide emergency relief goods such as tents, blankets and others through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to the Independent State of Papua New Guinea in response to the damages caused by the flood and landslide in the west part of the country.
In light of the humanitarian perspective and the close relations between Japan and the Independent State of Papua New Guinea, Japan has decided to provide emergency assistance to the Independent State of Papua New Guinea to help people affected by the disaster.

According to the Government of Papua New Guinea, as of April 10, approximately 90,000 people in 7 provinces of Gulf, Jiwaka, Simbu, Enga, Central, West Highland and East Highland have been affected by the flood and landslides caused by heavy rain since last March.
