On March 29, the 2nd Japan- U.S.-ROK Trilateral Diplomacy Working Group for Foreign Ministry Cooperation on North Korea’s Cyber Threats was held in Washington, D.C..
- This working group was co-chaired by Mr. KUMAGAI Naoki, Ambassador in charge of Cyber Policy and Deputy Director-General of Foreign Policy Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Mr. Lee Jun-il, Director-General for North Korean Nuclear Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, and Mr. Lyn Debevoise, Deputy Special Representative for the DPRK, Department of State of the United States of America.
- At this working group, the three countries shared their concern regarding North Korea’s illicit cyber activities that fund its unlawful weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and ballistic missile programs. The three countries shared information about each countries’ ongoing efforts to counter North Korea’s cyber threats including its IT workers and discussed future cooperation.
- The three countries reaffirmed that they will continue to work closely together toward the complete denuclearization of North Korea in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions including in the cyber area.
