On Appointment of Dr. Mohammad Mustafa as Prime Minister of Palestine

  1. On March 14 (local time), H.E. Dr. Mahmoud Abbas, President of Palestine, issued a presidential decree asking Dr. Mohammad Mustafa to form a new Palestinian government.
  2. The Government of Japan congratulates Dr. Mohammad Mustafa on his appointment as Prime Minister of Palestine, and also expresses its respect to the efforts of Dr. Muhammad Shtayyeh, former Prime Minister, during his tenure.
  3. Japan expects reforms by a new government, and will continue to actively contribute, including the assistance to Palestine, in cooperation with relevant countries and international organizations, to efforts for a two-state solution in which Israel and a future independent Palestinian state live side by side in peace and security.
