Meeting between State Minister for Foreign Affairs TSUJI and Mr. Stefan Löfven, former Prime Minister, Kingdom of Sweden

On March 15, commencing at 13:15 p.m., for approximately 30 minutes, Mr. TSUJI Kiyoto, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, met with Mr. Stefan Löfven, former Prime Minister of Kingdom of Sweden (Chair of the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI)). The overview of the meeting is as follows.

  1. At the outset, State Minister Tsuji welcomed Mr. Löfven’s visit to Japan and stated that Japan supports Sweden's accession to NATO. State Minister Tsuji also mentioned that he wished to develop the bilateral relationship including the cooperation in the United Nations Security Council. In response, former Prime Minister Löfven expressed his desire to continue to work closely with Japan.
  2. They also exchanged views on the Summit for the Future, and the situation in the Middle East, Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, and the situation in East Asia, and affirmed the importance of close coordination in the international arena.
