Visit to Japan by Mr. Jorge Castro Director of the Legal Affairs Division in the World Trade Organization (WTO)

From March 23 to 29, Mr. Jorge Castro, Director of the Legal Affairs Division, the World Trade Organization (WTO), will visit Japan at the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

  1. During his stay in Japan, Mr. Castro is scheduled to meet with government officials and experts, and visit economy-related facilities. He will also deliver a lecture at Waseda University on March 27, under the theme “The Present and Future of WTO Dispute Settlement”.
  2. A rules-based free and open multilateral trading system is the foundation on which Japan stands, with the WTO as its cornerstone. Maintaining and strengthening such system of which the WTO is at the core is also of great importance to establish the rule of law in the international society. This visit is expected to further strengthen cooperation between Japan and the WTO.
