Relaxation of Visa Requirements for Short-term Stay for Nationals of Ukraine

- On the occasion of the Japan-Ukraine Conference for Promotion of Economic Growth and Reconstruction, the relaxation of visa requirements for short-term stay for nationals of Ukraine (ordinary passport holders) will be commenced for further promoting the bilateral relations, including people-to-people exchanges. The timing of implementation and more details are under consideration.
- The specific measures to be taken are as follows:
(1) The full-time employees of Ukraine companies involved in the cooperation projects between Japan and Ukraine will be added to the applicants eligible for multiple entry visas for short-term stay with business purposes, and in addition, the requirement for a travel history to Japan will be relaxed.
(2) The relatives of the evacuees from Ukraine residing in Japan will be added to the applicants eligible for multiple entry visas for short-term stay with visiting relatives/acquaintances purposes.
(3) Multiple-entry visas (valid for 5 years, with a period of stay of up to 90 days allowed for each visit) will be issued to applicants with substantially high incomes and their families. - The abovementioned relaxation of visa requirements are expected to improve convenience for the businesspersons and the relatives of the evacuees from Ukraine residing in Japan.
