On February 16, commencing at 8:00 am, for approximately 20 minutes, Mr. OKANO Masataka, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a conference call with the Honorable Kurt M. Campbell, Deputy Secretary of State of the United States of America. The overview of the meeting is as follows.

1. Vice-Minister Okano extended his congratulations to Dr. Campbell on his appointment as Deputy Secretary, for which Deputy Secretary Campbell expressed his gratitude.
2. The two sides exchanged their views on Japan-U.S. relations and a broad range of regional issues. They concurred on continuing to closely cooperate with each other for the success of Prime Minister Kishida’s official visit to the U.S. in this April amid various challenges the international society faces.
