On February 14, commencing at 3:55 p.m. for approximately 15 minutes, Ms. KAMIKAWA Yoko, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a telephone talk with Senator the Hon. Penny WONG, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Commonwealth of Australia. The overview is as follows.

1. At the outset, Minister Wong congratulated on the success of the 5th Ministerial Interim Meeting of the Pacific Islands Leaders Meeting (PALM). Minister Kamikawa shared her views on the Meeting mentioning that she has reaffirmed strong relationship of trust based upon the shared values and principles, as well as the ‘kizuna’ nurtured through the PALM process. The two Ministers concurred to continue to work together to further strengthen the relations with the Pacific Island countries.
2. The two Ministers concurred to continue to closely coordinate on other various issues of the international community.
