Courtesy Call on State Minister for Foreign Affairs TSUJI by H.E. Mr. Vitor Paulo da Costa SERENO, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Republic of Portugal to Japan

On February 1st, commencing at 10:40 a.m., for approximately 20 minutes, Mr. TSUJI Kiyoto, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call by H.E. Mr. Vitor Paulo da Costa SERENO, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Republic of Portugal to Japan. The overview of the meeting is as follows.
- At the outset, a commemorative gift for the 480th anniversary of Japan-Portugal exchanges, sent by Prime Minister António Costa to Prime Minister KISHIDA Fumio, was presented by Ambassador Sereno, and State Minister Tsuji accepted it on behalf of Prime Minister Kishida. State Minister Tsuji stated that he would like to further develop the bilateral relationship, while reflecting on the 480th anniversary of Japan-Portugal exchanges last year. In response, Ambassador Sereno expressed his gratitude for the fruitful communication at various levels between the two countries and stated that he would like to continue to work closely with Japan.
- They exchanged views on Portugal’s initiatives in the Indo-Pacific region and Portugal’s participation in the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, among other topics.
