The 5th Japan – Australia Cyber Policy Dialogue

On Monday, December 4, the 5th Japan-Australia Cyber Policy Dialogue were held in Tokyo, Japan.

  1. This whole of government meeting was co-chaired by Mr. ISHIZUKI Hideo, Ambassador in charge of Cyber Policy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan (MOFA), and Mr. Brendan Dowling, Ambassador for Cyber Affairs and Critical Technology, Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), with the participation of officials from, on the Japanese side, MOFA, National center of Incident readiness and Strategy for Cybersecurity (NISC), National Police Agency (NPA), Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Ministry of Defense(MOD), JPCERT/CC and on the Australian side, DFAT, Department of Home Affairs(DHA), Australian Signals Directorate’s Australian Cyber Security Centre(ACSC).
  2. At this dialogue, the two sides exchanged views on broad topics, such as each country’s cybersecurity strategy and policy, bilateral and multilateral cooperation including UN, and cybersecurity capacity building.
  3. Both sides confirmed that they will continue to closely work together in the field of cyber, including through the Japan – Australia Cyber Policy Dialogue.
